Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for details.
A senior representative commented the incident made him without words and had to be solved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
